    alpha-Fenchene (CAS 471-84-1) là một monoterpen bicyclic có mùi thông, long não và hơi cam chanh, được ứng dụng chủ yếu trong hương liệu để mang lại nốt tươi mát, thảo mộc cho nước hoa, xà phòng, chất tẩy giặt, nến và sản phẩm khử mùi; trong hương liệu thực phẩm, nó có thể được dùng ở mức rất thấp để tăng cường sắc thái citrus–mint–herbal trong kẹo cao su, đồ uống và gia vị theo giới hạn an toàn tương ứng; trong hóa học hương thơm, alpha-Fenchene là nguyên liệu trung gian để oxy hóa/hydro hóa thành fenchone, fenchol và các dẫn xuất kiểu camphor, cũng như tạo epoxid và các khối xây dựng terpene khác; trong phân tích tinh dầu, nó làm chất chuẩn/đánh dấu để định tính định lượng bằng GC-MS, hỗ trợ giám định nguồn gốc nguyên liệu; trong R&D, nó được khảo sát về tính chất mùi, độ phản ứng (epoxid hóa, hydroboration, halogen hóa) và tiềm năng côn trùng học/kháng vi sinh vật ở quy mô thí nghiệm; lưu ý là chất lỏng dễ cháy, dễ oxy hóa khi tiếp xúc không khí/ánh sáng nên cần chất chống oxy hóa, bao gói kín và tuân thủ quy định an toàn, IFRA/tiêu chuẩn thực phẩm khi ứng dụng.
