    alpha-Bergamotene (CAS 17699-05-7) là một sesquiterpen dễ bay hơi được ứng dụng rộng rãi trong hương liệu, thực phẩm - đồ uống, nông nghiệp và nghiên cứu hóa sinh - sinh thái. Trong ngành nước hoa và chăm sóc cá nhân, nó được dùng như thành phần mùi mang sắc thái gỗ, thảo mộc, balsamic và thoảng cam chanh, giúp làm tròn các accord bergamot/lavender/tea, nối mạch nốt đầu - giữa, hỗ trợ ổn định các monoterpen dễ bay hơi và cân bằng cảm giác xanh. Trong tạo hương thực phẩm, alpha-bergamotene hiện diện ở mức vết để gợi đặc tính vỏ cam, thảo mộc và hoa bia trong đồ uống, kẹo và sản phẩm nướng, với liều dùng tuân thủ quy định an toàn hiện hành. Là một chất bán hóa học của thực vật và côn trùng, nó được khai thác làm tín hiệu mồi nhử/điều biến trong quản lý dịch hại bền vững và làm chất chuẩn phân tích trong GC-MS để định tính tinh dầu.
