    6-Methylcoumarin (CAS 92-48-8) là một dẫn xuất coumarin có mùi thơm ngọt nhẹ, gợi nhớ cỏ khô và hạnh nhân, được ứng dụng rộng rãi như thành phần tạo hương trong nước hoa, xà phòng, bột giặt, mỹ phẩm, hương liệu thuốc lá và thực phẩm; khả năng hấp thụ UV và phát huỳnh quang cho phép nó làm chất tăng quang, thuốc nhuộm huỳnh quang cho mực in bảo mật, vật liệu phát sáng OLED, đầu dò sinh học; trong hóa dược, vòng lacton hoạt hóa của hợp chất này là khối xây dựng để tổng hợp thuốc chống đông, kháng viêm, kháng khuẩn và thuốc bảo vệ thực vật sinh học, đồng thời làm chuẩn phân tích định lượng coumarin và đánh giá hiệu suất chiết; gắn 6-Methylcoumarin vào polymer giúp tăng độ bền màu, chống lão hóa quang, tạo phát sáng và chức năng cảm biến cho màng phủ, sợi thông minh và vật liệu chống UV bền.
