    2-Undecanone (còn gọi là methyl nonyl ketone) là một hợp chất hữu cơ tự nhiên hiện diện trong tinh dầu cây ruta, lá cà chua dại và nhiều loại trái cây, được ứng dụng rộng rãi làm hoạt chất xua đuổi côn trùng nhờ khả năng gây khó chịu khứu giác cho muỗi, ve, bọ chét, gián và thậm chí mèo trong các bình xịt bảo vệ vật nuôi; làm thành phần tạo hương vị trái cây, thảo mộc và cay nhẹ trong thực phẩm, kẹo cao su, đồ uống; làm nốt hương giữa mang sắc thái xanh, thảo mộc trong nước hoa, chất khử mùi và mỹ phẩm; làm dung môi chuyên dụng cho polymer, nhựa alkyd, mực in; đồng thời đóng vai trò trung gian tổng hợp pheromone côn trùng, chất hoạt động bề mặt, chất chống hà tàu, thuốc bảo vệ thực vật thế hệ mới và nhiều dẫn xuất phục vụ nghiên cứu dược lý – sinh học.
