    Tiềm năng ứng dụng của 1H-Cycloprop(e)azulene, 1a,2,3,4,4a,5,6,7b-octahydro-1,1,4,7-tetramethyl-, (1aR,4R,4aR,7bS)- (CAS 489-40-7) chủ yếu xoay quanh vai trò của một sesquiterpen hydrocarbon kỵ nước có khung cycloprop[e]azulen: trong hương liệu, nó được dùng ở liều vết–trung bình để bổ sung sắc thái gỗ khô, nhựa thông/cedar, tạo chiều sâu và độ bền cho nước hoa, xà phòng, chất tẩy rửa, nến và sản phẩm khử mùi nhờ độ bay hơi chậm và độ ổn định tương đối với nhiệt/kiềm; trong nghiên cứu tinh dầu và kiểm nghiệm gian lận, nó là dấu vết hóa học/chuẩn định lượng GC–MS và phát triển phương pháp GC đối quang để nhận diện nguồn gốc (ví dụ các dầu lá kim); trong tổng hợp và khám phá cấu trúc–mùi, nó làm nguyên liệu/khung xương để oxy hóa, hydro hóa tạo dẫn xuất terpenoid và thư viện tương tự; trong sinh thái–sinh học, nó được sàng lọc hoạt tính (kháng vi sinh, xua côn trùng) và theo dõi tương tác cây–côn trùng; trong hóa học khí quyển, nó là VOC sinh học phục vụ mô hình oxy hóa và hình thành aerosol hữu cơ thứ cấp; thêm vào đó, tính không tan trong nước và độ tan tốt trong dung môi hữu cơ giúp dễ pha chế, vi bao vi nang và nghiên cứu giải phóng có kiểm soát.
