  • Applications

Sodium phosphite (CAS 13708-85-5) is used as a reducing agent and metal ion chelating agent in various industrial aqueous processes, including pretreatment baths and water-treatment formulations to control oxidation and scale formation. In polymers and plastics, it serves as a processing stabilizer and antioxidant, helping extend resin stability during melt processing and in end-use. In coatings and inks, it acts as a scavenger for trace metal ions and as a corrosion inhibitor to improve substrate compatibility and pigment stability. In cleaning formulations, it functions as a sequestering/builder to bind hardness ions and enhance formulation performance. It also serves as an intermediate in the synthesis of phosphite esters and other phosphorus-containing compounds used in chemical manufacturing.
