Applications
Potassium Persulfate (CAS 7727-21-1) is widely used as a free-radical initiator in aqueous polymerizations of vinyl monomers (such as acrylates and styrene), supporting coatings, adhesives, and plastics. It also serves as a strong oxidizer in hair bleaching formulations and in textile and paper bleaching processes. In electronics manufacturing, it is employed as a copper etchant and surface-cleaning agent for PCB production. It functions as an oxidant in water treatment and pool sanitation systems, and appears in industrial cleaners and surface-preparation formulations, with use subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
