Applications
Octanoic acid, iron salt (1:?) is an iron salt of octanoic acid used as a siccative (drying agent) in oil- and alkyd-based coatings, accelerating oxidative drying and film formation. It is commonly evaluated as a catalyst or curing accelerator for polymer resin systems and polyester materials. As a metal soap of a fatty acid, it can function as a processing aid or lubricant additive in plastics and lubricants, improving dispersion and processing stability. It can also serve as an intermediate in the synthesis of other fatty-acid derivatives and in surface-treatment or ink additive applications. Subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
