Applications
Manganese(2+) dichloride (CAS 7773-01-5) serves as a practical source of Mn2+ for the synthesis of manganese compounds (for example MnO2 and Mn3O4) and as a feedstock for catalysts in various chemical processes. It is commonly used as a catalyst or co-catalyst in organic synthesis and in some polymerization systems. It is also employed as a soluble manganese source in agriculture as a micronutrient fertilizer for soils and hydroponic systems. In ceramics and glass production, it is used as a precursor for manganese oxide pigments and colorants to achieve brown/yellow hues. In metal finishing and electroplating, MnCl2 can be used in plating baths to supply Mn2+ and tailor finishes, subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
