Applications
Isostearyl Alcohol EX is a branched fatty alcohol widely used in cosmetics and personal care as an emollient and thickener, contributing slip, conditioning feel, and product rheology in creams, lotions, and hair-care formulations. It is also an intermediate for the preparation of isostearyl esters, which serve as emollients and fragrance carriers in perfumery and flavor applications. In coatings, inks, and industrial formulations, it can function as a solvent/processing aid and as a rheology modifier, helping blend oil and wax components and improve texture. It may be used as a solvent or carrier in household products and cleaners, aiding formulation of oil-based cleaning agents. In polymer/plastics processing, it is sometimes used as a precursor to specialty esters that act as lubricants or processing aids. Subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
