Applications
Adipic Acid (CAS 124-04-9) is a di-carboxylic acid that serves mainly as a key monomer for nylon 6,6 production by reacting with hexamethylenediamine; it also serves as a precursor for aliphatic polyesters such as polyethylene adipate and related resins used in coatings, adhesives, and other polyester applications. Adipic acid esters (adipate esters) are widely used as plasticizers for PVC and other polymers to impart flexibility. It also acts as a feedstock for polyurethane materials via polyester polyols and for alkyd coating resins, among other applications.
