    (Z,E)-alpha-Farnesene (CAS 26560-14-5) là một sesquiterpen tự nhiên có mùi xanh–táo đặc trưng, được ứng dụng chủ yếu làm thành phần hương liệu trong nước hoa, mỹ phẩm, sản phẩm chăm sóc cá nhân và hương thực phẩm (tạo nốt xanh, trái cây, thảo mộc), đồng thời được khai thác như bán hoá chất nông nghiệp mô phỏng khí thải bay hơi của táo/lê để hỗ trợ bẫy theo dõi một số loài sâu hại quả và làm chỉ thị phân tích hậu thu hoạch khi định lượng α-farnesene cùng các trien liên hợp liên quan đến hiện tượng rám vỏ táo; trong R&D và hoá chất chuyên dụng, đồng phân này là khối xây dựng sinh học C15 linh hoạt (có thể epoxid hoá, hydroxyl hoá, polymer hoá) để tạo dẫn xuất terpen dùng cho chất thơm tinh chỉnh, chất hoạt động bề mặt và vật liệu, và sau khi hydro hoá cho các chất lỏng iso-parafin kiểu farnesane/squalane ứng dụng làm chất làm mềm da, dung môi, dầu nhờn chuyên dụng, đồng thời thường được dùng làm chất chuẩn GC–MS trong hồ sơ hương của trái cây, rượu vang, trà và tinh dầu.
