    6-Methyl-5-hepten-2-ol (MHO, CAS 1569-60-4) là một alcol bậc hai có mùi trái cây xanh đặc trưng, được ứng dụng rộng rãi làm chất tạo hương vị trong thực phẩm, đồ uống, mỹ phẩm và sản phẩm chăm sóc cá nhân, đồng thời là tiền chất công nghiệp quan trọng để tổng hợp tocopherol (vitamin E), trung gian điều chế các este thơm, phụ gia tạo vị thuốc lá và hương cam quýt terpene, chất bổ sung tạo cảm giác tươi mát cho chất tẩy rửa cao cấp, cũng như hợp chất pheromone sulcatol của bọ cánh cứng dùng cho bẫy sinh học và nghiên cứu hành vi, ngoài ra khung isoprenyl của nó còn khiến hợp chất này trở thành khối xây dựng linh hoạt trong tổng hợp hữu cơ tinh vi.
