    Rotundifolone (CAS 5945-46-0) là một monoterpen keton tự nhiên hiện diện chủ yếu trong tinh dầu Mentha (đặc biệt Mentha × villosa/M. suaveolens), được nghiên cứu về tác dụng giãn cơ trơn và giãn mạch (liên quan kênh K+, tín hiệu NO/cGMP, TRPM8), chống co thắt đường tiêu hóa, hạ huyết áp thực nghiệm, giảm đau và chống viêm; có hoạt tính kháng khuẩn, kháng nấm và diệt ấu trùng muỗi Aedes, cùng tiềm năng kháng ký sinh trùng (ví dụ Leishmania), nhờ đó được xem như ứng viên chất bảo vệ thực vật sinh học/chất xua đuổi côn trùng và chất bảo quản tự nhiên; trong hương liệu–thực phẩm, nó góp mùi bạc hà–thảo mộc và làm chỉ thị hóa học để định danh chemotype, kiểm soát chất lượng tinh dầu Mentha; trong hóa học tổng hợp, khung menthane chứa nhóm keton của nó dùng làm “building block” cho dẫn xuất monoterpen; trong dược phẩm–vật liệu, nó được bào chế vào hệ mang (nanoemulsion, cyclodextrin) để tăng độ ổn định/độ tan; lưu ý các ứng dụng y sinh hiện chủ yếu ở mức tiền lâm sàng và phụ thuộc quy định địa phương.
