    Propyl butyrate (propyl butanoat, CAS 105-66-8) là một este có mùi thơm trái cây ngọt ngào được ứng dụng rộng rãi làm chất tạo hương trong thực phẩm, đồ uống, bánh kẹo, kem, sản phẩm sữa, hương liệu thuốc lá, xi rô và nước giải khát, đồng thời xuất hiện trong ngành nước hoa và mỹ phẩm để mang lại sắc thái chuối, lê, dứa, đào và rượu rum; với độ bay hơi vừa phải và mùi dễ chịu, hợp chất này còn đóng vai trò dung môi sinh học cho mực in, sơn phủ, chất tẩy rửa, keo dán, dung dịch đánh bóng và dược phẩm, giúp giảm bớt dung môi độc hại trong những công thức xanh; ngoài ra, propyl butyrate còn được dùng làm chất trung gian trong tổng hợp hương liệu, thuốc trừ sâu và phụ gia nhựa, và nhờ khả năng phân hủy sinh học tốt nên ngày càng được ưa chuộng trong các ứng dụng hóa mỹ phẩm thân thiện môi trường.
