    Prenyl acetate (CAS 1191-16-8) là este có hương trái cây xanh dịu, xuất hiện tự nhiên trong dầu lá cây, bạc hà, hoa húng quế và nhiều loại tinh dầu nhiệt đới; trong công nghiệp nó được sử dụng rộng rãi làm chất điều hương cho nước hoa cao cấp nhằm tạo nốt xanh mát, hơi thảo mộc và phảng phất mùi lê, đồng thời được pha chế vào nước xả vải, chất tẩy rửa, xà phòng, sáp thơm và nến để mang lại cảm giác sạch sẽ, sảng khoái; trong công nghệ thực phẩm, prenyl acetate là phụ gia hương liệu FEMA GRAS cho kẹo, đồ uống, bánh kẹo, đồ nướng với mục đích tái hiện hương dứa, cam quýt, dừa hoặc đào; hợp chất còn đóng vai trò tiền chất tổng hợp dược mỹ phẩm, chất trung gian điều chế pheromone côn trùng nhằm giám sát dịch hại, và là dung môi phản ứng nhẹ mùi trong phòng thí nghiệm nghiên cứu terpenoid.
