    Naphthalene, 1,2,3,5,6,8a-hexahydro-4,7-dimethyl-1-(1-methylethyl)-, (1S-cis)- (CAS 16729-01-4) là một sesquiterpen hydrocarbon khung decalin có mùi gỗ đặc trưng; trong thực tiễn, nó chủ yếu được ứng dụng như thành phần hương mang sắc thái gỗ - tuyết tùng - hơi long não trong nước hoa, chất khử mùi, sản phẩm chăm sóc cá nhân và chất tẩy rửa có hương; đồng thời được dùng làm chất chuẩn/marker trong phân tích GC-MS và hiệu chuẩn chỉ số lưu giữ để nhận diện, định lượng các sesquiterpen trong tinh dầu gỗ và nhựa; ngoài ra, hợp chất này còn làm nguyên liệu/khối xây dựng để biến đổi hóa học thành các dẫn xuất oxy hóa có mùi gỗ đậm hơn, là phân tử mô hình cho nghiên cứu xúc tác hydrocarbon (hydro hóa/oxy hóa chọn lọc) và hành vi môi trường của terpene kỵ nước, và được khảo sát về vai trò đóng góp hoặc hiệp đồng trong hoạt tính xua đuổi côn trùng khi hiện diện trong hỗn hợp dầu gỗ tự nhiên (hiệu quả phụ thuộc công thức và nồng độ).
