    gamma-Curcumene (CAS 28976-68-3) là một sesquiterpen hydrocarbon có trong tinh dầu nghệ và họ Gừng, được ứng dụng chủ yếu làm thành phần hương vị tự nhiên với nốt ấm, cay, gỗ trong nước hoa, mỹ phẩm và sản phẩm chăm sóc cá nhân, cũng như làm chất tạo hương trong thực phẩm ở nơi được phép; ngoài ra còn được dùng trong nghiên cứu như chất chuẩn/marker cho GC–MS, kiểm soát chất lượng tinh dầu, hóa thực vật và truy xuất nguồn gốc dược liệu, đồng thời được khảo sát tiềm năng sinh học (kháng khuẩn, chống oxy hóa, chống viêm) và khả năng xua đuổi/diệt côn trùng của các tinh dầu giàu γ‑curcumene để phát triển chất bảo quản tự nhiên và chế phẩm thuốc trừ sâu sinh học, trong khi các ứng dụng trị liệu trực tiếp vẫn chủ yếu ở mức tiền lâm sàng và phải tuân thủ quy định an toàn hương liệu/thực phẩm, kiểm soát độ tinh khiết, liều dùng và tính ổn định trước oxy hóa.
