    Ethyl isobutyrate (CAS 97-62-1), còn gọi là ethyl 2-methylpropanoate, là một este có mùi thơm dứa–dâu đặc trưng, được ngành công nghiệp thực phẩm dùng làm chất tạo hương ở hàm lượng ppm cho nước giải khát có gas, nước trái cây, rượu mùi, kem, kẹo dẻo, bánh nướng và kẹo cao su nhằm tái hiện hương dứa, xoài, mơ và dâu tây cũng như gia tăng cảm giác tươi mát; trong công nghệ hương liệu thuốc lá, nó được phối trộn để làm mềm vị khói và bổ sung phức hợp hương trái cây; trong mỹ phẩm và sản phẩm chăm sóc cá nhân (nước hoa, xịt toàn thân, dầu gội) hợp chất này góp phần tạo nốt hương ngọt và bay hơi nhanh, đồng thời hoạt động như dung môi nhẹ cho các tinh dầu; nhờ độ bay hơi vừa phải, khả năng trộn lẫn tốt với dung môi hữu cơ và độc tính thấp, ethyl isobutyrate còn được dùng làm dung môi phối hợp trong mực in, sơn, chất phủ, chất tẩy rửa chính xác và làm trung gian tổng hợp dược phẩm, agro-hoá chất hoặc hương liệu khác, đáp ứng tiêu chuẩn FCC/ISO với các giới hạn kim loại nặng nghiêm ngặt và hồ sơ an toàn được các cơ quan như FEMA, EU và JECFA phê chuẩn.
