    2,2′-(Thiodimethylene)difuran, CAS 13678-67-6, với cấu trúc gồm hai vòng furan nối nhau bằng cầu thioether, được ứng dụng như một khối xây dựng linh hoạt trong tổng hợp dị vòng để tạo khung phân tử mở rộng, làm monome chức năng cho polyme dẫn điện chứa lưu huỳnh-oxy, tiền chất của vật liệu khung hữu cơ-kim loại giàu S dùng trong pin Li-S, mô hình ligand nghiên cứu dược lý nhằm tối ưu tính kỵ nước và ổn định cầu disulfide, đồng thời đóng vai trò chất trung gian mùi hương, thuốc nhuộm, chất ổn định quang học và đầu dò huỳnh quang nhờ đặc tính cho điện tử mạnh và chống oxi hóa.
