    δ-Dodecalactone là một lacton mạch vòng có hương vị béo kem, đào chín và dừa, được ứng dụng rộng rãi làm chất tạo hương trong bánh kẹo, đồ uống, sản phẩm sữa, nước giải khát, thuốc lá, thực phẩm chức năng; làm thành phần nước hoa, mỹ phẩm dưỡng da nhờ đặc tính dịu nhẹ và phân hủy sinh học; dùng như dung môi xanh, chất điều biến vị trong bao bì ăn được, chất đánh dấu phân tích trong kiểm soát chất lượng hương liệu, và chất tăng độ ngon miệng cho thức ăn chăn nuôi cao cấp.
