    Citronellyl formate (CAS 105-85-1) là este mùi hương có nốt ngọt, trái cây, cam chanh–hoa hồng, được dùng rộng rãi để tạo và điều chỉnh tầng hương đầu–giữa trong nước hoa và sản phẩm chăm sóc cá nhân (xịt thơm, dầu gội, sữa tắm, lotion, lăn khử mùi, aftershave), bổ sung độ tươi mềm và làm tròn các accord cam chanh/hoa, đồng thời mang lại cảm giác sạch sẽ cho xà phòng, chất tẩy rửa, nước xả vải, nước rửa chén và chất tẩy đa năng; trong mảng hương nhà cửa, nó tạo nét dễ chịu cho nến thơm, sáp thơm, máy khuếch tán và xịt phòng, thường phối hợp với citronellol, geraniol và các este cam chanh khác để tăng độ khuếch tán; đôi khi còn được dùng ở mức vết như chất tạo hương thực phẩm cho mô phỏng vị cam chanh–trái cây nơi được pháp luật cho phép, và làm tiền chất/chất trung gian trong nghiên cứu–tổng hợp hương liệu dựa trên dẫn xuất citronellol; nguyên liệu này có thể có nguồn gốc tự nhiên (từ tinh dầu sả, phong lữ) hoặc tổng hợp, tương thích tốt với hầu hết hệ chất hoạt động bề mặt nhưng có thể thủy phân dưới điều kiện kiềm/axit mạnh, vì vậy thường được sử dụng ở nồng độ thấp theo khuyến cáo IFRA và quy định địa phương.
