    Ar-Curcumene (CAS 4176-06-1) là một sesquiterpene thơm tự nhiên có trong tinh dầu nghệ, gừng và nhiều loài Zingiberaceae; trong công nghiệp, nó được dùng như thành phần tạo hương ấm, cay, gỗ cho nước hoa, chất khử mùi, sản phẩm chăm sóc cá nhân và để tạo sắc thái đặc trưng cho thực phẩm gia vị (ví dụ hỗn hợp cà ri, súp, đồ ăn nhẹ), đồng thời là chất chuẩn/marker trong phân tích GC-MS nhằm kiểm nghiệm, chuẩn hóa và truy xuất nguồn gốc tinh dầu, đánh giá độ nguyên bản của dược liệu, nghiên cứu hóa hệ thống và chuyển hóa; trong hướng ứng dụng, Ar-Curcumene còn được khảo sát với các hoạt tính tiềm năng (kháng vi sinh vật, chống oxy hóa, chống viêm, xua đuổi côn trùng) phục vụ phát triển chất bảo quản nguồn gốc thực vật, xử lý sau thu hoạch và quản lý dịch hại thân thiện môi trường, cũng như làm khung phân tử cho tổng hợp dẫn xuất sesquiterpene, tuy nhiên các ứng dụng sinh dược này hiện chủ yếu ở mức in vitro/tiền lâm sàng và cần thêm bằng chứng về an toàn, hiệu lực và tuân thủ quy định.
