    Là một olefin ba vòng cứng, kỵ nước và có tính đối quang, (5S)-4,10,11,11-Tetramethyltricyclo[5.3.1.0~1,5~]undec-9-ene (CAS 560-32-7) chủ yếu được ứng dụng trong nghiên cứu và phát triển làm cơ chất mô hình và trung gian tổng hợp để thực hiện các biến đổi chọn lọc (hydro hóa, epoxi hóa, oxy hóa, hydroformyl hóa, halogen hóa) nhằm thu epoxide, alcohol và carbonyl dẫn xuất; làm chất chuẩn và nghiên cứu phương pháp phân tích (chuẩn chỉ số lưu giữ và chuẩn khối phổ cho GC/GC–MS, khảo sát tách enantiomer trên cột sắc ký đối quang); làm khung cứng kỵ nước để thiết kế dẫn xuất cho hương liệu, dược hóa học và hoạt chất nông nghiệp; sau khi chức hóa, dùng làm monomer, tác nhân nối hoặc phụ gia khối cồng kềnh giúp tăng Tg, độ bền hóa học và tính kỵ nước của nhựa, sơn và vật liệu đóng rắn UV; là cơ chất chuẩn để đánh giá hoạt tính và tính chọn lọc của xúc tác đồng thể/dị thể đối với phản ứng cộng vào nối đôi trên nền khung cồng kềnh; và ở mức nghiên cứu, được xem xét như phụ gia cho dầu nhờn hoặc nhiên liệu nhằm cải thiện tính bôi trơn, ổn định oxy hóa và hành vi bay hơi.
