    2-Tridecanone (CAS 593-08-8) là một keton mạch thẳng tự nhiên nổi bật trong lông tuyến của cà chua hoang, được biết đến với khả năng xua đuổi và tiêu diệt côn trùng như rệp, bọ xít và muỗi; nhờ đặc tính đó, nó được ứng dụng rộng rãi trong thuốc trừ sâu sinh học, bẫy mồi nhử pheromone, sơn chống côn trùng cho gỗ, cũng như làm phụ gia an toàn cho thức ăn chăn nuôi nhằm giảm áp lực sâu bệnh; ngoài ra, 2-Tridecanone còn được dùng như chất chuẩn phân tích trong nghiên cứu hóa sinh, tiền chất tổng hợp hương liệu-mỹ phẩm mang mùi cỏ xanh và hỗ trợ tạo hương thịt nướng, đồng thời đóng vai trò chất hoạt hóa bề mặt trong công thức dung môi chuyên dụng cho công nghiệp polyme và chất bôi trơn nhờ chuỗi hydrocacbon dài, thân dầu.
