    2-Methyl-6-methylideneocta-1,7-dien-3-one (CAS 41702-60-7) là một enone terpenoid mạch hở đa năng, được ứng dụng chủ yếu như nguyên liệu trung gian và cơ chất nghiên cứu trong hóa hữu cơ: khung keton α,β-không no của nó là chất nhận Michael hiệu quả cho phản ứng aza-/oxa-/thio-Michael, khử chọn lọc (1,4 so với 1,2) và hydro hóa, đồng thời có thể đóng vai trò dienophile trong phản ứng Diels–Alder để tạo vòng; các liên kết đôi đầu mạch và ngoại vòng cho phép epoxid hóa, hydroboration–oxy hóa, metathesis olefin, thiol–ene và chức năng hóa gốc tự do, mở lối tổng hợp nhanh tới các mô-típ giống ionone/damascone, dẫn xuất terpenoid vòng và tiền chất hương sau biến đổi; trong R&D, hợp chất này thường được dùng để đánh giá xúc tác (kim loại chuyển tiếp, organocatalysis, biocatalysis) cho cộng hạt nhân bất đối xứng, khử chuyển hydro và cyclo hóa, làm chuẩn tham chiếu phân tích (GC/MS, LC) trong ma trận terpenoid, phục vụ khảo sát cấu trúc–hoạt tính của enone điện tử nghèo trong hóa dược, và có thể khai thác như monomer cho vật liệu đóng rắn UV thông qua phản ứng click thiol–ene trên nối đôi ngoại vòng.
