    2-Methyl-6-(4-methylcyclohex-3-en-1-ylidene)hept-2-ene (CAS 495-62-5) là một sesquiterpen hydrocarbon không no, được nghiên cứu ứng dụng trong lĩnh vực hương–liệu như chất tạo/điều biến mùi (thường gợi sắc thái gỗ, cay, terpenic) cho nước hoa, mỹ phẩm và sản phẩm gia dụng; làm chuẩn tham chiếu và chất đánh dấu biến thiên trong phân tích GC/MS tinh dầu và hương liệu để thẩm định phương pháp (chuẩn làm việc, spike–thu hồi), theo dõi độ bền/oxy hóa và dựng “vân tay” hương; làm trung gian tổng hợp để truy cập các dẫn xuất oxy hóa (epoxide, alcohol, ketone) hoặc hydro hóa nhằm phát triển nốt hương mới; dùng như phân tử mô hình cho nghiên cứu cơ chế tự oxy hóa/quang oxy hóa terpen, hình thành aerosol hữu cơ thứ cấp và ổn định công thức; đồng thời được khảo sát trong sinh thái–hóa học và công nghệ bảo vệ thực vật như bán hóa học (thu hút/xua đuổi) tiềm năng và trong sàng lọc hoạt tính sinh học in vitro; việc sử dụng trong thực phẩm hay dược phẩm phụ thuộc đánh giá an toàn và quy định hiện hành cụ thể.
