    1-Decanol (C10H22O, CAS 112-30-1) là một ancol béo mạch thẳng có mùi nhẹ, có điểm sôi cao, vì vậy được dùng rộng rãi làm dung môi vừa phân cực trong mực in, vecni và sơn cao rắn; đồng thời là nguyên liệu trung gian để este hóa tạo decyl oleat, decyl cocoate, decyl laurate – các chất làm mềm, tăng trượt và tạo cảm giác mượt cho kem dưỡng da, sản phẩm chăm sóc tóc và son môi; chuỗi C10 của nó cũng là khung carbon để sản xuất các chất hoạt động bề mặt không ion như decyl glucoside, decyl polyether, thường có trong sữa rửa mặt dịu nhẹ, chất tẩy giặt sinh học và dung dịch lau chùi công nghiệp ít tạo bọt; trong công nghệ dầu khí và kim loại, 1-Decanol đóng vai trò phụ gia bôi trơn, chất chống ăn mòn và chất phá bọt nhờ tính kỵ nước vừa phải; nó còn được dùng như tác nhân hợp nhất (coalescing agent) cho nhũ sơn gốc nước, chất hóa dẻo PVC không phthalate, phụ gia vi sinh phân hủy trong thuốc trừ sâu, chất mang hương trong nước hoa cao cấp, đồng thời là hợp chất mẫu cho nghiên cứu dãy ancol n-alkanol trong vật lý chất lỏng.
